Been Dying To Start Podcasting
I just have this bug. I love podcasts and I really want to take a crack at producing one. I know I am late to the game but if a couple passionate and opinionated people would like to try it out with me at worse it can be a lot of fun… at best… it can be a lot of fun!
Video? Audio? I presently consume much more audio podcasts then video. I guess it depends on the subject and if video would add any benefit to the people listening/watching the podcast. Plus, I was always told I have a face for radio! :-)
But what can we cover? Stuff I am passionate about: the web, interaction design, the software process, useful branding, how to run a business, startups, the scene in Montreal, my computer, human sexuality… (hey, people told me I had to find a hobby outside of computers so I choose human sexuality!)
Does anyone else have a passion for podcasts here? Anyone ever consider starting a podcast?

I love podcasting. I finally took my passion for tecahing and my passion for podcasting and merged them into a website that teaches people how to podcast. (www.schoolofpodcasting.com ) if you want some free stuff about planning your podcast go to www.planningyourpdocast.com or if you need help learning how to subscribe to a podcast go to www.learntosubscribe.com

Kopanas, if you’re thinking about starting a podcast… DO IT!
I still think the best talk I ever saw was done by Tod Maffin at the very first Northern Voice. (http://www.fullcirc.com/weblog/2005/02/tod-maffins-podcasting-talk-at.htm).
A couple things that stuck with me, even until now: * Radio is the most visual medium: you can imagine anything you want in your head. * If you are podcasting, let your audience into your personality and into your life. There are too many “DJs” out there with zero personality. Even though you hear their voices, you can’t really hear them, and you don’t feel like you’ve connected with them.
Kopanas, you’ve got tonnes of personality, so if you want to start a podcast, get ‘er done, son. (If you want feedback on production, I wouldn’t mind experimenting with that. I don’t want to talk though. You can do the talking.)

Thanks Michelle,
I started, I guest hosted a podcast a week ago and I was asked back! :-)
I am going to do that a couple more times and then I will see if I am going to produce my own podcast. Time will tell! :-)

Hey John,
What about a podcast on software engineering and development targeted at undergraduates? Maybe have some recent graduates or seasoned professionals to share their insights and give the students a taste of what the industry is all about outside the academia? What about presenting some tools, technologies and real-world projects that might help them in their student clubs, i.e., properly using TDD, implementing an easy and simple Continuous Integration environment for their code, learning about software quality engineering, etc.?
I’ve yet to hear about a podcast on software development that student can really relate to.
Keep up the passion! ;)
